21.06.05 Lapagestock was very cool, with Al's brother (Angus) taking the role as bass player, and Jonty Finn (Without Grace) drumming. A stunning event, hopefully it will go on for years to come, and become the biggest festival in Britain (or remain small and intimate)........ and now Guidford festival moves closer, and with it, a release of the 3rd single......

06/02/04 Very last minute gig, tonight, Surrey Uni, Chancellors Bar, supporting Rob Reynolds (who has toured with the likes of David Sneddon, Glen Tilbrook etc.)

04/02/05 The second single from the album is to be the title track 'Why Can I See Stars'. The release date is set at April 11th. The video for this is currently being shot, by the talented Mr Tim Mattia.....

04/02/05 Album release date set for 14th Feb. You can pre-order online from www.hmv.co.uk (search for 'Alistair Cowan'). We've decided to keep availability of the single 'Bird In The Sky' initially exclusive to live appearences, from the 7th Feb, though wider distribution is planned.

14/01/05 Video for new single 'Bird In The Sky' added to THE AMP playlist. Single release date set at 7th Feb, with general release of album to follow shortly.......

04/011/04 Lots has been happeining, and lots is still happening...... Alistair has signed to independant record label 320 Records. Why Can I See Stars has been re-mixed, re-sequenced, re-mastered (and in the case of These Arms, re-recorded) and will be available, distributed by Universal Music via Active Media from early next year.
Regarding gigs, Alistair has been working with sequences, live drums and backing tracks, so as to get the right result. Watch this space....... Alistair is also working with top director, Tim Mattia (Ariel X, X is Loaded, The Strokes, Hip Slinky) for the promo video for Bird In The Sky (the first single).

27/10/04 Solid State Sound pressing of Why Can I See Stars is OFFICIALLY a collectors-edition'. The glass master has been destroyed, and with only 1000 in circulation, SSSCD005 is now unique. You will still be able to purchase remaing copies from www.alistaircowan.net, but production and sales of the new pressing will be channelled through a new indepentant record company (with distribution through Universal, so you'll be able to buy it through your local Record Shop). It's all good in the move for world domination.......

12/10/04 GIG confirmed at City Fest. 17th October, at 5.15pm. More details at www.cityfest.co.uk City fest comprises of about 30 acts playing Saturday and Sunday, in Guildford (the venue is at Guildford City football club).

12/10/04 Last minute gig at Porters Bar, Bath, with Hip Slinky pals. Sorry for those of you who missed it, but I found out on the day midday that I was playing that evening. To see how the gig went, look at the music section and read a splendid review that appeared on th Bath Moles Club website a week later!

02/08/04 AIRPLAY ON BBC2, JOHNNIE WALKER SHOW. On Thursday 29th Julyt 2004, 5.30pm (peak drivetime radio), Johnnie Walker played 'Bird In The Sky' taken from Alistair Cowan's 'Why Can I See Stars' album. 26/07/04 GIG CONFIRMATION @ The Guldford Ambient Picnic, on Shalford Park, 1st August, 2.30pm, The Acoustic Stage. The orgonisers are expecting around 9,000 people through the gates, and there are various live stages (essentially a free festival, though there is a voluntary donation on the door). Al's mates, Hip Slinky will be playing on the main stage, so should be a good day......

26/07/04 Bob Harris played Bird In The Sky on his BBC6Music show on Sunday 25/0704. He said the album "is great", and to "remember the name Alistair Cowan"

10/05/04 Long awaited second album is complete. Entiled WHY CAN I SEE STARS, it's a 14 track album. It'll be hot off the press, litterally, on the 28th May. The artwork is full colour, with a 12 page booklet, including lyrics, and insights into the songs. The primary photos were taken by the world famous photographer Scarlet Page who used to snap Al back in the Redwood days, and is now snapping The Darkness, Robbie Williams etc. Click on thumbnail below to see the cover enlarged.

10/05/04 The album has gone to press. It's been a long time coming, but I vow never to let the wait between albums become so long again. It's 14 tracks though, mainly because I wanted it to be vaue, (not in the cheap sense of the word). Albums I love are Soundgarden Superunknown, and Beatsie Boys Ill Communication, and these both have shedloads of songs on them. And those would be fairly good steps to follow in......
